Outremont is distinguished by its beautiful residences with a heritage character and by its urban forest. Its parks are the envy of many. Its almost completely built territory has recently made way for condominiums. Restaurants, shops and professional services maintain a very pleasant neighborhood life.
With its proximity to Mount Royal, its many parks and its urban forest, Outremont is a green oasis in Montreal which, combined with an exceptional architectural heritage, gives it a unique character.
Founded in 1875, the municipality of Outremont became in 2002 a borough of the City of Montreal. With a population of just over 25,000 residents, it is an essentially residential and institutional sector located near the city center of the metropolis.
The borough is expanding rapidly following the inauguration of the Université de Montréal Science Complex and the development of private real estate projects in the northeast section of its territory.
